Mechanical Design and Motion Control

The CORE One employs a CoreXY motion layout that decouples carriage mass from axis travel, minimizing inertial forces and enabling stable movement during high-speed printing. The frame is designed for rigidity, reducing vibration and improving dimensional precision over long print durations.

Linear motion components and belt systems are designed for longevity and periodic adjustment, allowing maintenance without extensive disassembly. Motion control is executed through a 32-bit controller with stepper drivers tuned for smooth acceleration and accuracy.

Enclosure and Thermal Environment

A fully enclosed build chamber reduces thermal gradients and drafts, creating a more stable environment for challenging materials. The heated bed reaches up to approximately 120 °C, and the internal chamber can stabilize at elevated temperatures to support higher-temperature materials.

The printer’s enclosure and optional filtration system limit particulate and VOC emissions, enabling deployment closer to office or lab spaces without specialized ventilation.

Material Support and Characteristics

Material support for the CORE One extends beyond basic PLA and PETG. Standard materials include PLA, PETG, Flex, PVA, PC, PP, CPE, and PVB. When paired with the optional advanced filtration system and enclosure accessories, the machine can reliably process ABS, ASA, HIPS, and PA (nylon).

This range covers engineering thermoplastics with increased mechanical performance, chemical resistance, and thermal stability, enabling applications such as functional prototypes, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Calibration, Sensor Suite, and Automation

The CORE One integrates a comprehensive sensor suite including dual filament detection, loadcell probing, and multiple thermistors. Automatic first-layer calibration and grid mesh bed leveling reduce manual setup and minimize operator variability.

Loadcell-based measurements ensure accurate nozzle-to-bed height, and the system monitors fan performance and door status to maintain controlled conditions during printing. External connectivity, including USB, Ethernet, optional Wi-Fi, and remote management via Prusa Connect, supports job scheduling and monitoring across networked environments.

Serviceability and Long-Term Use

Prusa’s open-hardware approach extends to the CORE One, with documented hardware interfaces and accessible components. Mechanical modules are designed for serviceability, replacement, and upgrades, extending usable life.

Firmware updates and configuration options allow adaptation to evolving workflow needs. This transparency and modularity reduce operational risk and support integration into standardised maintenance procedures.
