Advantages

A major advantage of this technology is the ability to produce metal parts with great complexity, which otherwise might not have been possible to manufacture. For example, this impeller can be tested and built that would be very time and material intensive otherwise.

Topology-Optimized Pieces

Losing weight using topology-optimized pieces is another area where this technology helps and a way to use these parts is a low quantity production since traditional metal processes cannot make these parts. Example applications would be for race cars and aerospace.
